Choosing Solutions, Not Sides
“Despite the challenges facing our state, I have hope for the future of Illinois. This hope does not stem from faith in our state government, rather faith in the people of Illinois. Our history is rich with exceptional men and women who work hard and take risks to create a better life for their children and their children's children.
I will not succumb to partisan politics; it is not fair to the people of Illinois and has proven to be inefficient. I am serving to do best by the people--meaning I will always choose solutions, not sides.”
Bring Fiscal Sanity to the State of Illinois
2020 Promise: We have great opportunities to develop our economy, but the financial issues Illinois faces continue to threaten the stability of our business climate.
Businesses are leaving the state and choosing to grow elsewhere. The General Assembly must prove it can manage our finances (as every family household does) and get them under control to show stability and good faith. We can begin to reverse negative trends, which will stimulate growth and create jobs. Creating jobs grows our tax base rather than our tax rate.
TIM ON TAXES:
"Illinois citizens bear one of the highest tax burdens in the country. With Illinois suffering a mass exodus, I do not believe we should tax and spend our way out of all the looming debt. It is too hard on the citizens who are staying in Illinois, and it only perpetuates all of Illinois' issues."
Getting Illinois Back to Work
2020 Promise: Tim will fight to end the mass exodus of jobs and businesses from Illinois. Our state needs to be open for business to create STABLE employment and help Illinoisans get back to work. Tim will focus on local issues and work with area employers to not only stay but grow in our region.
Holding Government Accountable
2020 Promise: Illinois has seen enough career politicians. It is time for a State Representative to act as a public servant—supporting term limits, redistricting reform, and holding the government accountable. Everyone that has a pension already should keep it (pensions are a promise). Still, we need to look at how we are funding pensions for the next working generation.
TIM ON TERM LIMITS:
"The more years politicians hold in office, the more they cozy up to special interests, accumulate more power, and lose touch with their constituents. Term limits are a step toward breaking the Chicago and Springfield political machines. We must restore the true meaning of public service. Public officials should go to Springfield with only one thing on their minds – service.
Democrats and Republicans across Illinois agree Springfield politicians should enact term-limits. The General Assembly should pass a term-limits resolution to allow voters to weigh in on the issue. I am an ardent believer in term limits and will seek constituent feedback to make their voices heard on their most important issues.
I will term-limit myself as a state representative to six years (3 Terms). Serving our community should be a temporary public service, not a career."
TIM ON FAIR MAPS:
"Elections should not be preordained. Voters should have a choice when they show up to the polls. Unfortunately, our current system allows politicians to draw the lines and select the constituents they "represent" in Springfield.
Partisan consideration in legislative map-drawing disenfranchises many Illinoisans from electing someone who shares their values and maximizes the opportunity for corrupt politicians to maximize their interests over the interests of the taxpayer. That is wrong. I wholeheartedly believe voters should pick their politicians, not the politicians picking their voters. We must remove politicians from the map-drawing process."
Supporting our Schools
2020 Promise: For decades, there has been a void of authentic leadership in Springfield. Illinois families have been forced to abandon their homes and seek employment in a neighboring state for a better future for their children and families. Educators and parents have lost trust and have given up believing that Illinois will provide fair opportunities for the next generation. We need to provide a high-quality and competitive education plan to keep our future talent from crossing state lines.
NO Unfunded Mandates/NO Higher Property Taxes
"I will vote NO against unfunded mandates because our communities cannot afford higher property taxes! I believe in local control, and with schools already underfunded, we cannot keep asking them to do more with less.”
Protecting 2nd Amendment Rights
2020 Promise: Tim will defend our 2nd Amendment rights and fight against any bills brought forth in the name of "public safety" and aimed at criminalizing legal gun owners. Tim will defend everyone's constitutional rights in the 37th district from the 2nd Amendment to the 4th Amendment and beyond!
TIM & 2nd AMENDMENT:
- FOID Card Carrier
- Concealed Carry License Carrier
- Member of the ISRA (Illinois State Rifle Association)
- Lifetime member of NRA
