July Legislative Updates from Rep. Ozinga

Neighbor-

Since session ended last month I have been busy at work in District 37. My goal this summer is to speak with as many constituents as possible to ensure that I am ready to bring solid legislation forward that will help our community.

Concealed Carry Licensing Course

As a firm believer in the Second Amendment, I want to offer my constituents a way to easily obtain their Concealed Carry License. If someone in Illinois wants to obtain their CCL, it can often require jumping through hoops to find a course and take the time to complete it. This two-day course is an easy way for law-abiding citizens to safely obtain their CCL while learning about the importance of gun safety.

Dates and Times:

Day 1: July 22nd from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

Day 2: July 29th from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm

*Both days must be attended unless a participant is renewing a previous license or is a veteran.

Rates:

$200 per student.

$175 per student for multi-ticket purchases.

$75 for veterans.

$50 for renewals.

Location:

Mokena, IL. (Exact address will be given to registered students).

Firearm Rentals:

Rentals cost $25 per day and include a firearm and holster.

About the Instructor:

This course will be led by Personal Safety Coach and 13-year Marine Corps Veteran, Joe Malone. He is a Board-Certified Protection Professional (CPP), NRA Basic Pistol, IL firearms instructor, and Nationally Registered EMT.

June Local Business Highlight

For my first monthly business highlight, I chose to honor EggCetera Cafe in Mokena. I spent time touring the business and presented the owners with a certificate of appreciation for their contributions to the community.

I chose EggCetera Cafe because they offer a quality family-friendly dining experience to our community. When you walk into EggCetera, they treat you like family and work to offer fresh, delicious food to their customers.

As someone who works in a family-owned business, I always appreciate the effort and sacrifices made by other family-owned businesses to keep their operations running. However, each business has its own needs, and speaking directly to the owners is a great way for me to ensure their voices are heard.

EggCetera is a family-owned business, run by owners Dino and Gail Bastas. There are two locations in Mokena, located at 10120 191st Street and 19709 Mokena Street. Both locations serve breakfast and lunch and offer online ordering and delivery.

Summer Reading Program

This summer marks the beginning of my first Summer Reading Program!

Beginning on June 1st, students from kindergarten to 5th grade are invited to participate in this program. As a father, I have seen firsthand how reading skills can regress during the summer months. It can be hard to keep children engaged with reading, which is why I am launching my summer reading program. This program is a fun way to get kids excited about reading and rewards them for completing eight books.

Any student who submits a completed form before August 1st will be invited to an end-of-summer ice cream event.

Happy 4th of July!

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Independence Day with family and friends!
